Dragonflies: A Complete Insect Life Cycle

This short video offers some good insight into the fascinating world of the dragonfly. It deals mostly with the nymph or larva stage which is the longest part of the life cycle...up to three years. I have tried to capture the flight of dragonflies with my camera, it's almost impossible because of the
incredible flight capabilities of this insect. This video does a good job of trying to capture the flight and is able to capture some flight of some larger specimens, but shows none of the actual capture in-flight. In late summer, I have observed large stretches of grass become feeding grounds for the dragonfly; as the morning dew evaporates large swarms of mosquitoes can be seen rising and swarming from mid-afternoon to dusk. This is when the predator dragonfly performs his wonderous flight patterns, capturing and sucking the victims' life juices in mid-flight and going on to the next victim. This is the part of the life cycle that, as far as I know, has never been completely...
